'The amount you measure out is the amount you will be given back' #Luke6: 36-38
Reflection in the Mirror
Today Jesus calls us to be compassionate, not to judge, not to condemn, to grant pardon and to give of ourselves. Long before the laws of physics came to the forefront of human thinking, Jesus reminded us and continues to remind us today that
our energies are in constant interaction with others in the world. When we give love, we will receive love, when we are kind to others, others will be kind to us, when we forgive others, we will be forgiven, when we give freely of our time and resources, we will receive those things in return. When we give with the heart, then we will receive in plenty. But the converse is also true; when we withhold love, love will be withheld from us, when we seek to keep what we have out of fear, then it is likely that even the little we have, will be taken away. Today, let us reflect on the qualities we share with others in the world. Where do we give freely and where do we withhold? If we are lacking a particularly quality in our lives, perhaps we should aim to share or give that particular quality in order that we grow that quality in our own lives.
Today, let us ask the Holy Spirit to give us insight as to what positive qualities we are lacking and what actions we can take to grow these qualities so that we may grow in wholeness and love and be of even greater service in the world. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
